How to apply for an internship with no experience

ONFIVEE Team · 20 Sep 2026 · 1 min read

Every internship applicant is in the same position, so the advantage does not come from experience. It comes from being specific.

What counts as experience even if you were not paid

  • University projects, especially the final-year one
  • Coursework where you handled real data or a real client
  • A family business you helped run
  • Volunteering, church or mosque committees, student government
  • Anything you taught yourself and can demonstrate

Write the application in this order

  1. Which internship you are applying for, by name.
  2. What you are studying and when you finish.
  3. One thing you have done that touches the work — a project, a module, a tool you know.
  4. What you want to learn there.
  5. Your availability, in dates.

What makes an application fail

  • Sending the same letter to forty organisations with the name changed.
  • No dates, so nobody knows when you are free.
  • A CV attached as a photograph.
  • An email address you do not check.

Follow up once. After a week, one short and polite email restating your interest. Once — not every day.

For field attachment or practical training: attach the introduction letter from your institution in the first message. Most organisations cannot start the paperwork without it, and an application without it usually stops there.

On ONFIVEE, complete your profile fully before applying. Employers open your profile, your CV and your interview score from the same screen — an incomplete profile is an easy reason to skip you when there are sixty applicants.
