As the Warehouse Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the efficient and accurate operation of the company's warehouse. You will coordinate the receiving, storage, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch of goods while ensuring that inventory records remain accurate and up to date.
You will lead warehouse employees, allocate duties and shifts, monitor performance, and ensure that company procedures and applicable health and safety requirements are followed.
The role also involves working closely with procurement, transport, sales, finance, and other operational teams to ensure that goods are available when required and delivered according to agreed schedules.
The successful candidate will be expected to identify operational inefficiencies, reduce stock losses and handling errors, improve warehouse processes, and provide accurate reports on inventory and warehouse performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch.
- Supervise, coordinate, and assign duties to warehouse staff and casual workers where applicable.
- Plan staff schedules and ensure adequate warehouse coverage during operating hours.
- Receive incoming goods and verify quantities, specifications, condition, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure all goods are properly labelled, recorded, stored, and handled according to company procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure physical stock agrees with system and documentation records.
- Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and periodic physical inventory checks.
- Investigate and report stock variances, damages, losses, shortages, and discrepancies.
- Implement appropriate stock rotation and storage practices, including FIFO/FEFO where applicable.
- Coordinate order picking, packing, staging, and dispatch to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Work closely with transport and delivery teams to coordinate loading and dispatch schedules.
- Monitor warehouse space utilization and maintain an organized and efficient storage layout.
- Ensure goods are stored securely and protected against damage, theft, contamination, or deterioration.
- Maintain proper documentation for goods received, transferred, issued, returned, or dispatched.
- Monitor warehouse equipment and report maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure warehouse staff follow health, safety, security, and operational procedures.
- Train and coach warehouse employees on proper handling, storage, inventory, and safety procedures.
- Monitor staff productivity and address performance or operational issues appropriately.
- Coordinate with procurement and other departments regarding incoming and outgoing stock.
- Prepare regular warehouse, inventory, stock movement, and operational performance reports.
- Use warehouse management systems, inventory software, spreadsheets, or other relevant systems to maintain accurate records.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce operating costs, and minimize stock losses.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records and ensuring warehouse documentation is readily available.
- Ensure the warehouse remains clean, secure, organized, and compliant with company standards.
- Perform other warehouse and logistics duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in warehouse management, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Previous experience supervising warehouse teams.
- Good understanding of inventory management and stock control procedures.
- Experience with receiving, storage, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch operations.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory and warehouse documentation.
- Experience using inventory management systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, or related software.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
