We are seeking a technically capable and dependable IT Technician to provide day-to-day technical support and assist in maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, systems, networks, and digital services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring computers and network equipment, supporting users, maintaining IT assets, and assisting with system administration, server management, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, backup, and other system engineering activities.
The ideal candidate should have a practical approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to support both technical and non-technical users.

The IT Technician will support the organization's technology environment and ensure that employees have reliable access to the systems, devices, networks, and digital tools required for their work.
The role combines IT support, infrastructure maintenance, networking, systems administration, and basic system engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, management, service providers, and other technical personnel to maintain secure and reliable IT operations.
The position may also involve supporting ICT requirements at project offices, development sites, training locations, or other operational locations within Tanzania.
Responsibilities
IT Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide first- and second-level technical support to staff.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, printer, and connectivity problems.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain computers and other IT equipment.
- Support Windows, Linux, and other operating systems where required.
- Install and configure business applications and productivity software.
- Troubleshoot user account, email, internet, printing, and peripheral-related issues.
- Respond to IT support requests and ensure incidents are properly documented and resolved.
- Escalate complex technical problems to the IT Manager, system administrator, vendor, or other relevant technical personnel.
- Provide basic technical guidance and training to users.
Systems Administration
- Assist with administration and maintenance of Windows and Linux systems.
- Support user accounts, permissions, access controls, and system configurations.
- Assist with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file sharing, and other network services.
- Monitor system performance and report unusual or recurring issues.
- Assist with server installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Support system updates, software patches, and routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and system records.
- Assist with virtualization and server management where applicable.
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
- Assist with configuring routers, switches, access points, and other network equipment.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, IP addressing, DNS, and internet access issues.
- Assist with VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
- Monitor basic network performance and availability.
- Maintain network equipment and ensure proper configuration.
- Assist with network expansion and infrastructure upgrades.
- Maintain basic network diagrams, IP records, and infrastructure documentation.
System Engineering Support
- Assist in designing, deploying, and maintaining reliable IT infrastructure.
- Support system configuration, testing, deployment, and optimization.
- Assist in identifying infrastructure bottlenecks and recurring technical problems.
- Support automation of routine IT tasks where appropriate.
- Assist with system monitoring and performance optimization.

Backup & Data Recovery
- Assist with routine backup of important organizational data and systems.
- Monitor backup jobs and report failed or incomplete backups.
- Maintain backup records and documentation.

- Support testing of backup and recovery processes.
- Ensure backup media and storage are handled securely.
Cybersecurity
- Assist in maintaining the organization's basic cybersecurity controls.
- Install and maintain antivirus/endpoint protection software.
- Ensure computers and systems receive security updates and patches.
- Assist with password, access-control, and account-security practices.
- Monitor for suspicious system activity and report potential security incidents.
- Support implementation of multi-factor authentication and other security controls.
- Promote secure handling of organizational information and devices.
- Assist with basic vulnerability identification and remediation.
Hardware & IT Asset Management
- Maintain an accurate inventory of computers, printers, networking equipment, software, and other ICT assets.
- Prepare and configure equipment for new employees.
- Track equipment allocation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement.
- Conduct periodic checks of IT equipment.
- Assist with procurement by providing technical specifications for required equipment.
- Coordinate equipment repairs with vendors and service providers.
- Ensure IT equipment is properly maintained and securely configured.
IT Projects
- Participate in ICT infrastructure and system implementation projects.
- Assist with installation and deployment of new systems and equipment.
- Support testing and user acceptance activities.

Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support, technical support, systems administration, networking, or a related position is preferred.
- Practical experience troubleshooting computers, operating systems, networks, and peripherals.
- Experience working in an organizational or corporate IT environment is an advantage.
- Experience supporting Windows and Linux environments is an advantage.
