We are looking for a motivated, organized, and proactive Research and Marketing Intern to support research outreach, academic engagement, marketing communication, stakeholder coordination, and research-related events.

The Research and Marketing Intern will work closely with the research, communications, and project teams to increase awareness and participation in research projects, academic opportunities, events, and innovation programmes.

The role combines research and information gathering with marketing and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will help build relationships with researchers and institutions, identify relevant research opportunities and potential collaborators, communicate opportunities through appropriate channels, and support the organization of research and innovation activities.

The intern will also assist with preparing project and event materials, maintaining stakeholder information, conducting follow-ups with potential partners, and supporting field-based research activities when required.

The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator who is comfortable conducting online research, engaging with different stakeholders, preparing professional materials, using social media, and coordinating multiple activities at the same time.

Responsibilities

Research Project Outreach

  • Support outreach activities for ongoing and upcoming research projects.
  • Identify researchers, academics, students, institutions, organizations, and other relevant stakeholders for research projects.
  • Research universities, research centres, NGOs, companies, government institutions, and professional organizations that may be relevant to specific projects.
  • Promote research opportunities and calls for participation through appropriate communication channels.
  • Maintain organized records of researchers, institutions, contacts, and potential collaborators.

  • Prepare participant information, briefing materials, schedules, and other required documents.

Project & Event Materials

  • Prepare presentations, invitations, agendas, briefing notes, participant lists, information sheets, and other project materials.
  • Assist in preparing promotional materials for research projects and events.
  • Compile research, stakeholder, participant, and event information into clear and organized documents.
  • Support preparation of reports, attendance records, meeting notes, and follow-up action points.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Business Administration, Research Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, Economics, Development Studies, Education, Project Management, Statistics or a related field.
  • Strong interest in research, academia, marketing, innovation, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Strong online research and information-gathering skills.
  • Ability to identify and organize information from multiple sources.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with researchers, institutions, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital communication.
  • Good organizational and event coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to prepare professional presentations, reports, and project materials.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Willingness to travel or participate in research field activities when required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Previous internship, volunteer, research, marketing, communications, or event coordination experience.
