Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to provide support in legal research, documentation, compliance, policy review, marketing, and professional-development activities.

The successful candidate will gain practical exposure to legal and business operations while supporting an initiative focused on lifelong learning and professional growth.

In addition to legal responsibilities, the intern will participate in research, content development, marketing, stakeholder engagement, and communication activities. The Legal Intern will work under the supervision of the relevant legal or management team to support legal research, document preparation, compliance activities, and organizational administration.

The role also involves contributing to research and marketing activities that communicate professional-development and lifelong-learning opportunities to relevant audiences.

The ideal candidate should have strong research, writing, analytical, communication, and organizational skills, together with an interest in marketing and professional development.

The candidate should be able to handle confidential information responsibly, conduct independent research, communicate professionally, and translate complex information into clear and useful content.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on relevant Tanzanian laws, regulations, policies, and legal developments.
  • Research legal issues assigned by the supervising lawyer or manager.
  • Review legislation, regulations, case law, policies, and other legal materials.
  • Prepare summaries and briefing notes based on legal research.
  • Assist in identifying legal and regulatory requirements relevant to organizational activities.
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments.
  • Organize legal research materials and maintain appropriate records.
  • Support preparation of presentations and reports based on legal findings.
  • Assist with preparing, reviewing, and organizing legal documents under supervision.
  • Support drafting of basic letters, notices, agreements, policies, and internal documents where appropriate.
  • Review documents for completeness, consistency, and basic compliance requirements.
  • Maintain organized physical and digital legal files.
  • Assist with document tracking and follow-up.
  • Support administrative tasks related to legal and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an LL.B. degree or equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Strong interest in legal research and professional development.
  • Good understanding of legal research methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to research and summarize information accurately.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

  • Experience using Canva or similar content-creation tools.
